Reflections and Rabbit Holes
"In postwar London, an English literature student learns she is descended from Alice Liddell, the works of Lewis Carroll were more fact than fiction, and her parents traveled to Wonderland and never returned.
Upon learning her family secret, Allison Elles sets out on an adventure to find her missing parents, discover hidden worlds, and solve a plaguing mystery: what has made these strange monsters powerful, and what ends are they working towards?
With Wonderland adventurers Bertie Douglas and Callum Caddell, the trio battle monsters across Britain and Wonderland. They find Wonderland in a state of paradoxical instability, as it relies entirely on the state of the “over-ground.” Still, Allison finds freedom in Wonderland and grows more and more attached to its unique charm and mixed bag of residents.
The more time she spends in Wonderland, the more possessive her boyfriend John, the son of the king and queen of hearts, becomes of her. Their relationship is put to the test the further the mystery unravels.
Bertie and Callum, a romantic couple of eight years, feel strain on their relationship as external stakes increase. The strain is multiplied by Callum’s overbearing, fussy, coddling nature, and Bertie’s impulsiveness and physical inability to feal fear.
As they travel deeper into unknown territory, Wonderland strays from a bed of painted red roses and becomes a twisted mess of thorns."
